Ferdinand Wegscheider

Ferdinand Wegscheider (born September 2, 1960 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian journalist and director of the private television station ServusTV .

Life

Wegscheider studied law at the University of Salzburg (Dr. jur.). After graduation, he worked for seven years as an editor at the ORF regional studio in Salzburg. Even before private television was legally allowed in Austria (Private TV Act 2001), Wegscheider founded Salzburg TV, the first private television broadcaster in Austria, in 1995 , making it a private television pioneer. The Red Bull Media House GmbH took over in 2007 Salzburg TV and developed ServusTV . Wegscheider left the station and devoted himself to other projects until he returned to the station in 2014 as head of the information and current affairs department . He has been its director since 2016 .

Ferdinand Wegscheider was President of the Austrian Private Television Association from 1999 to 2004. He has been a member of the Salzburg Film Advisory Board since 2006.
