Wilhelm Ferdinand Wilcke (born November 28, 1800 in Halle (Saale) ; † December 7, 1861 ibid) was a German author and preacher.

Live and act

Wilcke visited the Latina in Halle and then studied theology at the University of Halle until 1823 . He received his doctorate in 1825 and ordained in 1827 . He held his first parish position from 1827 to 1849 as a pastor in Rothenburg , then until 1861 he worked as chief preacher at the Löbejun town church St. Petri.

In 1825 he was accepted into the Masonic lodge to the three swords in Halle.

Ferdinand Wilcke was married to Auguste Friedrich (1810–1885) from Schönebeck from 1831 . The couple had four sons, of whom the son Waldemar Wilcke also became a pastor. Wilcke died in Halle and was buried in the cemetery in Löbejün.

Based on the sources available at the time, Wilcke wrote extensive works on the Templar Order , which to this day represent a collection of material on the subject and have been reissued. In addition, he wrote regional historical treatises about his places of activity Rothenburg and Löbejün.

In 1939 he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Löbejün.
