Fériana ( Arabic فريانة) is a city with about 25,000 and a delegation with about 52,000 inhabitants in western Tunisia in the Kasserine Governorate .
location
Fériana lies at an altitude of about 700 to 750 meters above sea level. d. M. in the eastern foothills of the Tell Atlas , which in large parts have a (semi) desert-like character. It is about 325 km (driving distance) in a north-easterly direction to Tunis ; to Kasserine it is about 40 km.
economy
Although Fériana itself has developed into a regional center of trade, handicrafts and services, agriculture still plays an important role in the area around the city.
history
The Roman city of Thelepte , about 5 km to the northeast, was taken over by Byzantium in late antiquity and by the Muslim Arabs in the 7th century.
