Fernando Arias-Salgado (born May 3, 1938 in Valladolid ) is a former Spanish diplomat .

After training in law, Arias-Salgado embarked on a diplomatic career in 1965. He represented Spain at the United Nations . He was also with as part of the 1975 Western Sahara conflict taking place Greens march is concerned.

After positions in the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he worked in the Spanish radio and television sector from 1977 to 1981.

In 1981 he became the Spanish Ambassador to the United Kingdom , then Consul General in Switzerland . After working as a Spanish representative at international organizations in Vienna , he became ambassador to Tunisia . After assuming the office of Spanish ambassador to Switzerland in 1996, he was ambassador to Morocco from 2001 .

On July 16, 2002, during the Parsley War , he was ordered back home from Rabat after negotiations with Morocco did not lead to a solution.
