Fernando Dávila

Fernando Dávila (born June 2, 1930 in Mexico City ), also known by the nickname La Cira , is a retired Mexican football player who played in defensive midfield .

career

"La Cira" Dávila was under contract throughout his career from 1950 to 1963 with CD Zacatepec , with whom he played in the newly introduced Segunda División in the 1950/51 season. The Cañeros were the first to win the newly introduced second division and went down as the first sporting climber in the history of Mexican club football . At the debut in the top division on July 29, 1951 in the home game against CD Veracruz , Dávila was not only on the pitch, but also contributed a goal to the 8-0 victory of the promoted team against the 1950 champions .

In the coming decade Dávila was part of the squad of the most successful team in the history of Club Deportivo Zacatepec, which won the championship and the cup competition twice during this period .

At the end of the 1961/62 season Dávila rose with the Cañeros , but helped them in the 1962/63 season again to win the second division championship and thus to immediate promotion, before he ended his active career following this success.

In the 1984/85 season , Dávila experienced, this time in his capacity as a coach, another relegation with the Cañeros , who have never played first-class since.
