The 271st Volksgrenadier Division was a German infantry division during World War II . The division was set up on September 17, 1944 in Tyrnau in Slovakia by renaming the 576th Volksgrenadier Division . In May 1945, the 271. People Grenadier Division clashed with its commander Major General Martin Bieber (with the leadership in charge since 15 September 1944 commander since January 1, 1945) in Moravia in Soviet captivity .
