The 573rd Volksgrenadier Division was a major combat unit of the German Wehrmacht in the process of being set up in World War II .
Mission history
The division was set up on August 25, 1944 in the 32nd wave of formation in Slovakia by Military District Command VIII ( Silesia ). Their permanent staff was made up of the remnants of the 708th Infantry Division , which had previously been broken up on the Western Front . Still in the formation phase, the division was renamed on September 4, 1944 in the not yet established 708th Volksgrenadier Division .
