553rd People's Grenadier Division
The 553rd Volksgrenadier Division was a German infantry division during World War II . The division was set up on July 11, 1944 at the Münsingen military training area. It was initially designated as the 553rd Grenadier Division, then renamed the 553rd People's Grenadier Division on October 9, 1944. In October 1944, the division was broken up in fighting in Lorraine .
