587th People's Grenadier Division

The 587th Volksgrenadier Division , also 587th Volksgrenadier Division "Groß-Görschen" , was a major combat unit of the German Wehrmacht in World War II .

Mission history

The division was set up at the beginning of September 1944 in the 32nd wave of formation for military district III on the hiking training area near Zielenzig in East Brandenburg . From September 28, 1944, the division was replenished by the Gross-Görschen shadow division .

Still in the formation phase, the division was deployed on October 13, 1944, together with the 257th Infantry Division to form the 257th Volksgrenadier Division .
