572nd People's Grenadier Division

The 572nd Volksgrenadier Division was a major combat unit of the German Wehrmacht in World War II .

Mission history

The division was set up on August 25, 1944 in the 32nd wave of formation near Thorn in West Prussia from the remnants of the destroyed 340th Infantry Division . Still in the formation phase, the division was renamed on September 4, 1944 into the not yet established 340th People's Grenadier Division .
