347th Infantry Division (Wehrmacht)

The 347th Infantry Division was a German infantry division during World War II . The division was set up on October 3, 1942 in the Netherlands . Gen.-Lt. Wolf-Günther Trierenberg commanded the 347th Infantry Division in February / March 1945 to defend Saarbrücken . In March 1945 the 347th Infantry Division in the Germersheim area was destroyed.

On May 7, 1945, the remnants of the 347th Infantry Division were renamed the 347th Volksgrenadier Division , and orders were made to supply new forces and rebuild the division. With the end of the war, one day later, this attempt ended.
