Wolf-Günther Trierenberg (born July 18, 1891 in Forst (Lausitz) , † July 25, 1981 in Detmold - Mosebeck ) was a German officer and most recently Lieutenant General in World War II . From May 5, 1942, he was the recipient of the German Cross in Gold. He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on May 10, 1943 as lieutenant general and commander of the 167th Infantry Division , with which he fought in France and Russia. In February / March 1945 Trierenberg commanded the 347th Infantry Division in the defense of Saarbrücken . He was then a US prisoner of war.
