588th People's Grenadier Division

The 588th Volksgrenadier Division was a major combat unit of the German Wehrmacht during World War II .

Mission history

The division was set up at the beginning of September 1944 in the 32nd wave of deployment on the Groß Born military training area in Pomerania . From September 28, the division was also referred to as the shadow division Möckern . Still in the formation phase, the division was renamed on October 27, 1944 into the not yet established 320th Volks-Grenadier-Division .
