Möckern Infantry Division

The Möckern infantry division was set up in early September 1944 as a so-called shadow division in military district II .

It was set up at the Groß Born training area in Pomerania . The naming took place after the battle site of the battle near Möckern . , Division name refers to that of the infantry division Niedergörsdorf , Infantry Division Dennewitz , Infantry Division Katzbach and the Infantry Division wholesale Görschen on places of liberation wars .

At the end of September 1944, the shadow division was called in to set up the 588th Volksgrenadier division .
