Rhön Infantry Division

The Rhön Infantry Division was set up in early August 1944 as a so-called shadow division .

The installation took place in the course of the 31st wave of installation for the military district IX . It was set up at the Wildflecken military training area . On August 26, 1944, the existing parts of the Rhön Infantry Division were used to set up the 566th People's Grenadier Division .

The structure of the so-called division was:

  • Grenadier Regiment Rhön 1
  • Grenadier Regiment Rhön 2
  • Artillery Battalion Rhön
  • Panzerjäger-Company Rhön
  • Pioneer Battalion Rhön
