The Generalgouvernement Infantry Division was set up as a shadow division .

Division history

The installation took place on February 13, 1944 in what was then the General Government of Poland . As early as March 1944, the Generalgouvernement Infantry Division was used to refresh the 72nd Infantry Division , which had previously been heavily decimated .

The division's commanding officer was Lieutenant General Gustav Harteneck .
