Infantry Division Dresden

The Dresden Infantry Division was set up as a so-called shadow division at the beginning of March 1945 .

The installation took place in the course of the 34th wave for the military district IV in Saxony . As early as March 10, 1945, the division was used to re-establish the 6th People's Grenadier Division with the 17th Army in Silesia .

The structure of the so-called division was:

  • Grenadier Regiment Dresden 1 with two battalions
  • Grenadier Regiment Dresden 2 with two battalions
  • Artillery Department Dresden
  • Engineer Company
