history
The place was probably founded during the Franconian conquest . In 741 the place was first mentioned by name in connection with the establishment of the diocese of Würzburg . The village emerged from a Franconian royal court , which is also documented in 889. It developed into a round village with two gatehouses, which was surrounded by a wall and moat.
In 1249 it was confirmed in a papal bull that the Heilsbronn monastery is well off in "Ikilneim", among other places.
In 1259 the Nuremberg burgraves and the city of Uffenheim were wealthy in the village. The burgraves directed the fortunes of Ickelheim from 1282 on from their vicarage Neustadt. In 1294 Conrad IV donated his property to the Teutonic Order . Resistance to the Reformation from clergymen Hans Heberlein and Georg Buscher and disputes with the German Order as the owner of most of Ickelheim delayed the implementation of the Reformation there until 1557, although the community had already requested a Protestant pastor in 1539. In 1565 the Bailiwick Office Ickelheim was formed, which belonged to the Virnsberg Coming from the Teutonic Order responsible for Ickelheim . The office building, which is still preserved today, dates from this time. During the Thirty Years' War , Army Commander Peter Ernst II von Mansfeld and part of his troops (the "Artolerey" ) arrived in Ickelheim in October 1621 , and in autumn 1631, as in Marktbergel and Ipsheim, there were attacks by imperial troops.
At the end of the 18th century there were 114 properties in Ickelheim. The high court exercised the Obervogteiamt Virnsberg . The Ickelheim Bailiwick was in charge of the village and community . The landlords were the Bailiwick of Ickelheim (81 properties: castle, school house, hunter's house, 2 taverns, 15 farms, 6 estates, 3 estates, 2 half estates, 34 Häckersgütlein, 2 half Häckersgütlein, 13 houses, 1 mill), the community of Ickelheim (2 gatehouses , Forge, community center, community pastor's house, synagogue), the parish of Ickelheim (parsonage, Frühmesshaus, 1 courtyard, 2 Häckersgütlein), the parish Linden (1 Häckersgut), the Brandenburg-Bavarian caste office Windsheim (3 estates, 2 houses), the imperial city of Windsheim (4 goods), and the Burgbernheim administration office of the Juliusspital Würzburg (1 house).
In 1806 Ickelheim came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, the tax district Ickelheim was formed in 1808 , to which the villages Linkenmühle and Wasenmühle belonged. In 1811 the rural community Ickelheim was formed, which was congruent with the tax district. The Ickelheim rural community was under the administration and jurisdiction of the Ansbach Regional Court and the Ansbach Rent Office for financial administration . On January 1, 1821, Ickelheim came to the Windsheim Regional Court and the Ipsheim Rent Office . From 1862 Ickelheim was administered by the Uffenheim District Office (renamed the Uffenheim District in 1938 ) and from 1856 by the Windsheim Rent Office ( renamed Windsheim Tax Office in 1920 ). The jurisdiction remained with the District Court of Windsheim until 1879, from 1880 District Court of Windsheim . In 1961 the municipality had an area of 14.578 km².
As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , Ickelheim was incorporated into Bad Windsheim on July 1, 1976.
In 1987 Ickelheim won the gold medal in the national competition “ Our village should be more beautiful ”.
