geography

The parish village and former market town is located in Windsheim Bay on the southern bank of the Aisch . In the east there is the Marterbücklein and the Rohrbuck , in the northwest beyond the Aisch the Galgenfeld . The vineyard is about one kilometer to the southwest and the Kronach one kilometer south . The federal road 470 leads to Illesheim (6.5 km southwest) or to Oberndorf (2 km northeast). The state road 2252 leading to mail Home (2,4 km to the east).

history

The place was probably founded during the first settlement wave of the Franconian conquest . In 1200 the place was first mentioned by name as "Lenggirsheim". The defining word of the place name is the personal name Lankier , who can be seen as the founder of the settlement. In the document, Lenkersheim received the royal privilege from the Roman-German Staufer King Philip , with which he made the local farmers subject to his protection. This was probably done with the intention of establishing a royal city loyal to him in the border area to the hostile diocese of Würzburg . The founding of the city, however, did not last and Lenkersheim became, for example, a "prevented" Frankish imperial city.

In 1249 it was confirmed in a papal protective bull that the Heilsbronn monastery is well off in Lenkersheim, among others. In 1282 the place came into the possession of the Hohenzollern family as an imperial fief and thus became part of the burgraviate of Nuremberg , who administered it from the vicarage of Neustadt. In 1313 Abbot Heinrich von Hirschlach sold the slopes of four farms in Lenkersheim to Burgrave Friedrich IV of Nuremberg for 130 pounds of Heller. In the oldest land register of the southwestern sub-area of the burgraviate, written from around 1361 to 1364 , the Lenkersheim office was expressly named as one of 19 administrative districts that comprised this territory. In 1381, Lenkersheim Castle was destroyed by troops from the imperial city of Windsheim because of robber baronism, when the people rebelled against the nobility. After the burgraviate of Nuremberg was divided up in 1486, Lenkersheim belonged to the Unterland of the later Principality of Bayreuth and then shared the fate of this territory.

Lenkersheim was set on fire in 1634 during the Thirty Years War . Towards the end of the 18th century there were 69 properties in Lenkersheim. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth Vogtamt Lenkersheim . The village and township government had the box office Ipsheim held. The landlords were the Kastenamt Ipsheim (56 properties: office building, 2 churches, rectory, schoolhouse, 7 courtyards, 31 estates, 3 estates, 11 houses, 3 houses, synagogue, 1 mill), the imperial city of Windsheim (4 houses), the Castell ' sche Amt Rüdenhausen (3 estates), the manor Obernzenn-Gutend (1 manor ), the manor Neudorf (1 Zehntstadel), the parish Obernzenn (1 manor ) and the parish of Lenkersheim (1 inn, 1 house).

In 1810 Lenkersheim came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, the Lenkersheim tax district was formed in 1811 , and in 1817 it became the Lenkersheim rural community . In administration and jurisdiction it was subordinate to the District Court of Windsheim and in financial administration to the Ipsheim Rent Office . From 1862 Lenkersheim was administered by the Uffenheim District Office (renamed the Uffenheim District in 1938 ) and from 1856 by the Windsheim Rent Office ( renamed the Windsheim Tax Office in 1920 ). The jurisdiction remained with the District Court of Windsheim until 1879, from 1880 District Court of Windsheim . In 1961 the community had an area of 10,882 square kilometers and no other districts besides the core town.

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , Lenkersheim was incorporated into Bad Windsheim on July 1, 1977.
