history

In 1259 the place was mentioned for the first time in a document in which Burchardus de Rutmarsperg gave the Teutonic Order of Nuremberg a farm in Oberndorf and the fief of Rapoto in Metelendorff as free property . The Heilsbronn Monastery acquired four days of meadows and eight acres of fields there in 1371 . In 1435, 4 daily meadows were purchased.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 31 properties and a branch church in Oberndorf. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth Vogtamt Altheim . If necessary, it had to be delivered to the Vogtamt Lenkersheim . The village and township government had the box office Ipsheim held. The landlords were the Principality of Bayreuth (25 properties; Kastenamt Ipsheim: 1 mill, 1 courtyard, 11 estates, 3 Gütlein, 3 houses; Klosteramt Birkenfeld : 1 Gülthof; Kastenamt Windsheim : 1 half courtyard , 2 quarter courtyards , 2 estates), the Brandenburg-Ansbach region Vogtamt Jochsberg-Flachslanden (1 Häckersgütlein, 1 house) and the imperial city of Windsheim (2 estates, 2 Häckersgüter).

In 1810 Oberndorf came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, it was assigned to the Ipsheim tax district in 1811 . In 1817 the rural community Ipsheim was formed, to which Oberndorf belonged. With the second community edict (1818) Oberndorf dissolved and formed its own rural community. The administrative and jurisdiction of the rural community Oberndorf was subordinate to the Regional Court of Windsheim and the financial administration to the Ipsheim Rent Office . From 1862 Oberndorf was administered by the Uffenheim district office (renamed the Uffenheim district in 1938 ) and from 1856 by the Windsheim Rent Office ( renamed Windsheim tax office in 1920 ). The jurisdiction remained with the District Court of Windsheim until 1879, from 1880 District Court of Windsheim . The municipality had an area of 4.943 km².

On July 1, 1972, Oberndorf was incorporated into the Ipsheim market.
