history

Dottenheim was first mentioned in a document in 744. It was temporarily a free imperial village . After the abolition of imperial immediacy, the place came to the Hohenlohe house around 1300 , then to the imperial city of Rothenburg ob der Tauber and in 1525 to the principality of Ansbach . Despite the introduction of the Reformation in the region from 1528, the Catholic Corpus Christi festival was still celebrated in Dottenheim in 1535 and 1540 . The entire village was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War , in which in October 1621 a cavalry line drawn by Lieutenant Colonel Muffel (to protect the war-important places Birkenfeld, with his stud and Neustadt) from the mercenary troops that had penetrated the area had its command post. In addition, 30 people died of the "plague". In 1641, nine of the original 130 teams (independent households) were still in Dottenheim. After the war, the place was rebuilt east of the church by Protestant expellees from Austria.

At the end of the 18th century there were 57 properties in Dottenheim. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth Vogtamt Lenkersheim . The village and township government had the box office Ipsheim held. The landlords were the Principality of Bayreuth (48 properties; Ipsheim caste office: rectory, school house, church, 2 taverns, 24 estates, 1 estate, 2 forges, 10 houses; Birkenfeld monastery : 3 hackers' estates, 1 estate; Altheim Vogtamt : 5 Sölden ), the Spital Neustadt an der Aisch (2 half yards, 2 Häckersgütlein), the parish of Ipsheim (1 house), the imperial town Windsheim (1 Gütlein, 2 Häckersgütlein) and the manor Ullstadt (1 Gut).

In 1810 Dottenheim became part of the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the community edict , it was assigned to the Altheim tax district formed in 1811 . In 1817 the rural community Altheim was formed, to which Dottenheim belonged. With the second community edict (1818) it broke away from it and formed its own rural community. This was subject to the Windsheim Regional Court in administration and jurisdiction and the Ipsheim Rent Office in the financial administration . The Ullstadt Patrimonial Court held voluntary jurisdiction and the police for a property until 1848 . From 1862 the Uffenheim district office (renamed the Uffenheim district in 1938 ) and the Windsheim Rent Office from 1856 ( renamed the Windsheim tax office in 1920 ) were responsible for Dottenheim. The jurisdiction remained with the District Court of Windsheim until 1879, from 1880 District Court of Windsheim . The municipality had an area of 6.032 km².

On July 1, 1972, Dottenheim was incorporated into Dietersheim as part of the regional reform .
