history

In 1342 the place was mentioned for the first time as "Weymersheim" in the income register of the St. Gumbertstift zu Ansbach. The place name means "to the home of Winimar". At the beginning of the 18th century there were 16 subject families in Weimersheim, of which “13 subjects from Bavaria, one from the wind and two from noble families”.

At the end of the 18th century there were 18 properties in Weimersheim. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth Vogtamt Lenkersheim . The village and township government had the box office Ipsheim held. The landlords were the Kastenamt Ipsheim (11 estates, 1 estate, 3 houses, 1 brickyard), the Brandenburg-Ansbach Vogtamt Jochsberg-Flachslanden (1 Sölde ) and the manor Obernzenn-Aberdar (1 estate).

As part of the community edict, Weimersheim was assigned to the Ipsheim tax district formed in 1811 . It also belonged to the Ipsheim rural community formed in 1817 . With the second community edict (1818) it was moved to Mailheim . The patrimonial court Obernzenn -Aberdar held voluntary jurisdiction over an estate until 1848 . On May 1, 1978, Weimersheim was incorporated into the Ipsheim market as part of the regional reform .

Viticulture is the main livelihood of the village. At the Roten Berg there is a 10.4 hectare cultivation area with 50,000 vines of the Müller-Thurgau variety .
