Külsheim is a district of the city of Bad Windsheim , Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district in Middle Franconia .

geography

The church village is located in Windsheim Bay and is surrounded by fields. The Kühwasengraben, which is a left tributary of the Aisch over its flood channel, flows through the village . In the north-west is the In der Mürben corridor , the Bad Windsheim industrial area borders in the south and the spa gardens in the west. A community road leads to state road 2253 (0.9 km north) or to Bad Windsheim to district road NEA 40 (0.8 km south).

history

The place was probably founded during the Merovingian settlement period of the Franconian conquest . In 790 the place was first mentioned in the Lorsch Codex as "Gullesheim" when it was donated to the Lorsch Abbey. The place name contains the personal name of the Frankish settler named Gullo . The castle , which was built on the remains of a former Celtic refugee castle , is likely to be much older , probably a rampart from around 450 BC. The castle was the seat of the Knights of Külsheim, a noble family towards the end of the 10th century who were fiefs of the Lords of Hohenlohe . At that time Külsheim was an imperial village . Under King Albert, the imperial village was pledged to the Lords of Hohenlohe. These in turn sold it to the imperial city of Rothenburg as a result of debts .

In 1285 it was confirmed in a certificate from Emperor Rudolf that Heilsbronn Monastery, among others, in Külsheim is wealthy. In total, the monastery acquired four farms and a meadow.

In 1348/1350 a Friedrich Esel, a knight of Külsheim, was named. In 1381 the castle was destroyed by troops from the imperial city of Windsheim because of robber baronism when the people rebelled against the nobility. By 1413 the Knights of Külsheim died out. In 1525 the sovereign rights passed to Kasimir, Margrave of Brandenburg-Kulmbach . The Reformation was introduced in 1525.

In March 1648, at the end of the Thirty Years' War, Külsheim was almost completely destroyed by Swedish troops who besieged Windsheim. Except for the church and a house, the place had to be completely demolished.

At the end of the 18th century there were 44 properties in Külsheim. The imperial city of Windsheim exercised the high court . If necessary, it had to be delivered to the Brandenburg-Bayreuth Vogtamt Lenkersheim . The imperial city of Windsheim held the village and community rulership. The landlords were the imperial town of Windsheim (21 properties: 1 mill, 15 goods, 2 semi-goods, 1 small farm, 2 forage goods), the Principality of Bayreuth (21 properties; box office Ipsheim : 1 inn, 4 goods, 6 houses, 1 forge; box office Windsheim : Church, schoolhouse, office building, servant house, 1 half courtyard, 3 goods; monastery office Birkenfeld : 1 half courtyard, 3 goods), the Schwarzenberg office Seehaus (1 estate) and the Rieter Foundation Administration Kornburg (1 estate).

In 1810 Külsheim came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, the Külsheim tax district was formed in 1811 , to which the towns of Erkenbrechtshofen , Humprechtsau , Oberntief and Untertief belonged. In 1817 the rural community Külsheim was formed, which was congruent with the tax district. With the second community edict (1818) three rural communities were formed:

  • Rural community Humprechtsau;
  • Rural community Külsheim with Erkenbrechtshofen;
  • Rural community Oberntief with Untertief.

The rural community Külsheim was subordinate in administration and jurisdiction to the district court Windsheim and in the financial administration to the Ipsheim rent office . However, until 1848 the Hohenlandsberg Lordship Court of the Schwarzenbergs held voluntary jurisdiction over an estate . From 1862 Külsheim was administered by the Uffenheim District Office (renamed the Uffenheim District in 1938 ) and from 1856 by the Windsheim Rent Office ( renamed Windsheim Tax Office in 1920 ). The jurisdiction remained with the District Court of Windsheim until 1879, from 1880 District Court of Windsheim . In 1961 the municipality had an area of 8.947 km².

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , Külsheim was incorporated into Bad Windsheim on May 1, 1978.
