history

The place was probably founded during the Franconian conquest in the 6th century. The place name probably contains the personal name Wibilis . The place was first mentioned by name in 850 in a document from the Lorsch Monastery , which was wealthy there. In 1103 the Hirsau monastery came into possession of goods in Wiebelsheim, in 1136/39 the Michelsberg monastery , in 1157 and 1237 the Auhausen monastery . The Reformation was introduced in 1525.

At the end of the 18th century there were 43 properties in Wiebelsheim. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth Schultheißenamt Burgbernheim . The village and township government had the imperial city Windheim held. The landlords were the imperial town of Windsheim (34 properties: rectory, church, 29 estates, blacksmiths, 1 Häckersgut, 3 little houses), the manor Illesheim (3 residential estates), the Principality of Bayreuth (Schultheißenamt Burgbernheim: 2 estates; caste office Windsheim : 2 Sölden ) and the Ansbach Abbey (1 courtyard, 1 Sölde).

In 1806 Wiebelsheim came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, it was assigned to the Ergersheim tax district in 1808 . In 1813 the rural community Ergersheim was formed, to which Wiebelsheim belonged. With the second community edict (1818), Wiebelsheim broke up and formed its own rural community. The administration and jurisdiction of the rural community Wiebelsheim was subordinate to the regional court Uffenheim and the financial administration to the Uffenheim Rent Office ( renamed the Uffenheim Tax Office in 1920 ). From 1862 Wiebelsheim was administered by the Uffenheim District Office (renamed the Uffenheim District in 1939 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court of Uffenheim until 1879, from 1880 to 1928 with the district court of Uffenheim , from 1928 with the district court of Windsheim . The municipality had an area of 5,659 km².

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , Wiebelsheim was incorporated into Bad Windsheim on January 1, 1972.
