Lenkersheim Castle

The castle Lenkersheim is an Outbound medieval moated castle from the type of a motte (Motte) east next to the local Church of St. John in Lenkersheim , a modern suburb of Bad Windsheim in the administrative district Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim in Bavaria .

The castle was mentioned in 1199. At that time the east was strongly fortified and the church was built near the Aisch and secured with a moat . A knight Col von Lenkersheim is mentioned in 1228 as the lord of the castle, whose line died out in the 13th century. In 1381 the castle was destroyed by troops from the imperial city of Windsheim because of robber baronship when the people revolted against the nobility.
