The Burgstall Oberlaimbach , also called Oberlaimbach Castle , is an abandoned early medieval Niederungsburg on the Laimbach north-east of Oberlaimbach , a current district of Scheinfeld in the Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district in Bavaria .

The Veste am Leymbach , which can be recognized in an old map as the elaborately marked Veste Oberlaimbach, was first mentioned in a document in 912 with the handover of goods from King Conrad I to Bishop Dracholf and was associated with the former Megingaudeshausen monastery, which found its way into the deed of foundation from 816 with the Latin place name Super fluvium Leymbach (Super fluvium = over the river), which recent excavations at the castle site seem to confirm. The monastery was moved to Münsterschwarzach in 877 . After Oberlaimbach Castle was in a very bad condition and the local nobility made it necessary to differentiate between Oberlaimbach and Unterlaimbach, the construction of Unterlaimbach Castle began in Unterlaimbach in 1357 . From 1186–89, the local nobility with Hermannus de Leimbach is documented for the first time as a witness to a document from the Bishop of Bamberg.

Nothing has survived from the former circular castle complex with a diameter of 35 meters, rediscovered in 1992 on a meadow.
