The Burgstall Buchklingen is a late medieval moated castle of the type of a tower castle in Buchklingen , a current part of the market town of Emskirchen in the district of Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim in Bavaria .

history

With the 1486 mentioned castle was Michael of Seckendorf from the line Rinhofen on Jochsberg 1,494 invested . In 1501 the castle was burned down because of ongoing raids and hostage-taking. This was preceded by raids by the Seckendorffer against the Nuremberg "pepper sacks" . A destruction of the castle in the course of the peasant war and a reconstruction can be assumed as likely. In 1569 the castle came to the von Burgmilchling family , who had their ancestral seat at Hochmilchling Castle in nearby Wilhermsdorf . Veit von Giech zu Scheßlitz and in 1582 the lords of Oedenberg were named as further owners. Extensive repair work was carried out on the castle around 1600. Thereafter, the Counts of Hohenlohe were named as further owners of the castle in 1668 and the Barons of Wurster in 1796. Around 1820 the castle was demolished and used as a quarry. From 1981 to 1983 the swamped moat was cleaned and drained and the remaining masonry was secured.

The castle site still has a well-preserved wall, a vault visible from the former moat and two entrances to vaults.
