The Postal Eckwartsburg is an Outbound medieval castle on the site of the local Church in Equarhofen , now part of the municipality Simmershofen in the district of Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim in Bavaria .

The name "Eckwartsburg" is probably an invention, because the place name Equarhofen comes from the women's name Eckeburg, Eckburg (cf. "Walburga" etc.). Even the "Eckeburg" as a castle name is to be doubted, as there is no documentary tradition about it. The "Eckeburg" was possibly invented by the Uffenheim lay researcher Simon Frühwald, who published the small local magazine Im Gollachgau in the 1930s . In Equarhofen in the late Middle Ages, the widely ramified Niederadeligen von Enheim, who were very wealthy in this area for a long time, sat on a mansion whose location is unknown.

The castle is said to have been razed in 1407 . The parish church of St. Kilian was later built on the alleged castle site. However, a parish and thus a church in Equarhofen is already mentioned at the beginning of the 14th century.
