580th People's Grenadier Division

The 580th Volksgrenadier Division was a major combat unit of the German Wehrmacht during World War II .

Mission history

The division was set up on August 25, 1944 in the 32nd wave of formation on the group training area in West Prussia from the remains of the destroyed 276th Infantry Division . Still in the formation phase, the division was renamed on September 17, 1944 into the not yet established 276th Volks-Grenadier-Division .
