The Lohmar-Birk telecommunications tower , officially the Lohmar 1 radio transmission center , is a 134-meter-high type FMT 2 tower made of reinforced concrete in Lohmar in the south of North Rhine-Westphalia. The telecommunications tower has served as a directional radio tower , transmission tower for mobile communications since 1971 and, until 2007, as the location of a relay radio station for the amateur radio service . Since August 2009, the radio program Radio Bonn / Rhein-Sieg has been broadcast from here with an effective radiation power of 500 watts.
