The telecommunications tower Meudon ( French Tour hertzienne de Meudon ) is a telecommunications tower near Paris , in the forest of Meudon . It was built in the early 1950s, making it the first television tower in France to be built after the Second World War .

It has a square base and is made of concrete. At 73 meters (other sources: 70 m) it has eighteen floors and three antenna platforms. In 1954 it was part of the first French long-distance radio link between Paris and Strasbourg .

In 1965 a 25 meter high antenna was installed . Since then, the tower is no longer used for television, but only for telephony . Its top is almost 270 meters above sea level and it is visible from Montmartre to Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines .
