Ferran Fabra i Puig

Ferran Fabra i Puig (* 1866 in Barcelona ; † 1944 there ) was a Spanish industrial engineer , politician , entrepreneur and second Marquis of Alella .

From 1907 to 1914 he was a member of the Federació Monàrquica Autonomista (Autonomous Monarchist Federation), first representative and later senator for Barcelona.

From 1922 to 1923 he was mayor of Barcelona, ​​which he left after the coup of Primo de Rivera . He then continued the industrial activities started by his father. Together with his brother Roman Fabra i Puig, Marquis de Masnou , he ran the Hilaturas Fabra i Coats textile company in the ninth district of Sant Andreu in Barcelona.

In 1904 Ferran Fabra appeared as a sponsor and co-founder of the Observatori Fabra on the ridge of the Serra de Collserola on the Tibidabo in Barcelona. Today it belongs to the Reial Acadèmia de Ciències i Arts de Barcelona .

In 1918 a shopping area in Barcelona was named after him, the Passeig de Fabra i Puig .
