Ferran Fabra i Puig
Ferran Fabra i Puig (* 1866 in Barcelona ; † 1944 there ) was a Spanish industrial engineer , politician , entrepreneur and second Marquis of Alella .
From 1907 to 1914 he was a member of the Federació Monàrquica Autonomista (Autonomous Monarchist Federation), first representative and later senator for Barcelona.
From 1922 to 1923 he was mayor of Barcelona, which he left after the coup of Primo de Rivera . He then continued the industrial activities started by his father. Together with his brother Roman Fabra i Puig, Marquis de Masnou , he ran the Hilaturas Fabra i Coats textile company in the ninth district of Sant Andreu in Barcelona.
In 1904 Ferran Fabra appeared as a sponsor and co-founder of the Observatori Fabra on the ridge of the Serra de Collserola on the Tibidabo in Barcelona. Today it belongs to the Reial Acadèmia de Ciències i Arts de Barcelona .
In 1918 a shopping area in Barcelona was named after him, the Passeig de Fabra i Puig .
