Roller coaster Formula Rossa

Ferrari World is a theme park on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi , United Arab Emirates . It has a total area of 25 hectares, 8 hectares of which is the world's largest covered theme park. There are 20 attractions all about fast driving.

history

In 2005, Aldar Properties announced that PJSC and Ferrari wanted to build a theme park. Construction work started in November 2008 and the park was opened on November 4, 2010. Ferrari World is the first large theme park next to the smaller one at the headquarters in Maranello , which was built for the Ferrari brand . The design comes from the English architecture firm Benoy , the work was supervised by the engineering firm Ramboll .

After only one year in operation, Ferrari World had to lay off more than 100 employees due to low occupancy at the theme park. The opening times of the facility were cut by around 30 percent because too few visitors came, especially in the morning. The remaining staff have to accept wage cuts and bonus adjustments.

Attractions

Ferrari World includes a fully functional leisure race track, a go-kart track, as well as a rally course and a drag racing track, plus a large historical and current Ferrari product overview with the first Ferrari dealer in the region. There is also a show and theater complex and several special driving schools with racing taster courses. In the center of the building is G-Force , a 62-meter-high vertical ride by Huss Rides , on which passengers should be able to experience the simulated g-forces as they occur in an F1 racing car. The other various activities related to driving a car and fast movement offer, among other things, the fastest roller coaster in the world with a top speed of 240 km / h - Formula Rossa (acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds and from 0 to 240 in 4, 9 seconds). In modeled Ferrari vehicles, this roller coaster is also intended to convey the driving experience that occurs in Formula 1, in particular that of the high acceleration forces, to the visitor. Another roller coaster is the Fiorano GT Challenge . Many of the driving options are deliberately aimed at children and young people because Ferrari assumes that this is where it will find future buyers. It goes without saying that Italian cuisine is in the foreground in the restaurants and snack bars.

South of Ferrari World, the first Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was held on November 1st, 2009 on the new Yas Island Circuit .
