1945–1991: Foundation and growth strategy

Ramboll was founded in October 1945 as "Rambøll & Hannemann" in Copenhagen by Børge Johannes Rambøll (1911–2009) and Johan Georg Hannemann (1907–1980). They received their first important order from the Danish radio engineering company Radioingeniørtjenesten, which at the time was building a large number of transmission towers and transmitters. After 1950, "Rambøll & Hannemann" designed and built a large number of broadcasting towers in Denmark and Norway . Oresund Bridge

Ramboll is involved in numerous large construction projects around the world, often in a leading position. For the construction of the Öresund Bridge (1995–1999), which connects Copenhagen in Denmark and Malmö in Sweden , Ramboll was responsible for design , bridge construction, transport and traffic planning as well as safety. The bridge is one of the most important traffic routes in Scandinavia . Both the international E20 motorway and the double-track railway line over the Öresund with direct connections from Copenhagen, the airport and Malmö lead over the bridge, which creates the connection in conjunction with a tunnel .

Ramboll was responsible for the planning and construction of the Storebælt Bridge (1988–1998). The bridge connects Halsskov on Zealand and Knudshoven on Funen . 18 kilometers with a double-track railway line and a four-lane motorway were planned and built, with a small, artificial island Sprogø in the middle of the Little Belt , where the tunnel turns into a bridge.

New Royal Opera in Copenhagen

As the lead engineering company, Ramboll was instrumental in the construction of the new Royal Opera in Copenhagen (2001-2004). Ramboll was responsible for engineering, fire, safety regulations, project management , structural engineering , geophysical engineering services, geotechnical engineering services, electrical engineering , traffic engineering , transportation planning responsibility and safety. What is striking about the opera is the roof, which measures 157 × 90 meters, one of the world's largest roof structures. In 2008, Ramboll won the “Outstanding Structure Award” from the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE) for its contribution to the design of the roof.

Since April 2009, Ramboll has been carrying out a feasibility study for the planning of a fixed transport link between Fehmarn and Rødby in collaboration with Ove Arup & Partners Ltd (Great Britain) and Tunnel Engineering Consultants (TEC) from the Netherlands . The traffic connection is to consist of a double-track train route and a four-lane motorway and connect Germany with Scandinavia . In this context, Ramboll creates the design of the tunnel variant as well as the engineering services and analyzes the consequences and effects on the environment , traffic and safety of the construction . In the case of a tunnel construction, the 19-kilometer Fehmarnbelt tunnel would be five times as long as the tunnel under the Øresund and three times as long as the Transbay Tube Tunnel in San Francisco, making it one of the world's longest and deepest tunnels.

Internationally, Ramboll has participated in various projects in recent years, such as B.
