Ferreira is a port brand of the spirits company Sogrape .

history

The Ferreira family of winegrowers began producing port under the same name in 1751. The founder's grandchildren, José Bernardo and António Bernardo Ferreira, bought additional land and expanded the winery. The family business was consolidated through the marriage of António Bernardo Ferreira and Antónia Adelaide Ferreira , both cousins.

Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, known as Ferreirinha ("little Ferreira"), was a widow at the age of 33 and took over the management of the company. She managed to consolidate and modernize the company. In addition, she also invested in infrastructure and social projects in the region of the winery. In 1987 the company AA Ferreira, SA was taken over by the spirits group Sogrape.
