  • The Ferrocarril Central Andino SA ( FCCA ), German Peruvian Central Railway is a Peruvian company that the railway from Lima in the Peruvian Andes operates -Hochland. The 591 km long rail network has endpoints at Cerro de Pasco , Huancayo , La Oroya and Callao on the coast. The rail line was designed by the Polish engineer Ernest Malinowski in the years 1871–1876.

The line to Callao-Lima-Huancayo had the US citizen Henry Meiggs built in the 1870s . Until 2005, it was the highest regular-gauge railway line in the world with a peak at 4781 m above sea level at La Galera . For the gain in height between the Pacific coast and La Oroya in the Andes, in addition to several spiral tunnels, 13 switchbacks had to be created.

The railway line between Lima and Huancayo was out of service for several years until 2002. Since 2003, however, it has been used by a tourist train twice a month between April and November. In addition, freight trains with ore from the many mines in the region run daily.

In June 2006, the government of Peru agreed to the projects of the concessionaire of the track, the Railroad Development Corporation to (RDC), the route Huancayo - Huancavelica 914 mm (3 feet) on standard gauge switch tracks . A construction period of 16 months and costs of US $ 33 million were planned for the construction work. This project was jointly funded by the government and the Andean Development Corporation . The work was finished in 2011, and on December 5 the line went back to normal operation.

RDC has proposed to drill a 21 km long, US $ 400 million tunnel through the Andes in order to reduce the travel time on the currently 332 km long Lima – Huancayo route by four hours.

In 2012, 1.8 million t of goods were transported.
