Ferrocarril Línea Linares Baeza-Almería ( 410 ) is a Spanish railway line that runs through the provinces of Jaén , Granada and Almería and ends at the port of Almería in the autonomous region of Andalusia in the south of Spain .

history

It is a single-lane, non-electrified line with a length of around 251 kilometers and a broad gauge of 1668 mm. The route begins in the Estación de Alcázar de San Juan train station at kilometer zero and ends after 250.618 kilometers in Almería in the port area. In the 19th century it was the most important freight route for the Spanish iron ore and steel industry, leading to the Cable Inglés and Cable Francés piers in Almería. The route was approved for freight trains with a length of 450 meters.

Today articulated trains of the Talgo type run on the route , which can also change lanes and connect Madrid-Chamartín with Almería. The route is operated by the Administrador de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias (Adif), which is part of RENFE . In regional traffic there are a number of lines that run alternately from Linares-Baeza to Granada and Almería. This liner service is operated with four trains per day of the RENFE series 599 , which cannot change lanes, in each direction. The route is monitored with the Spanish train control system ASFA .
