The Fieseler Fi 157 was an unmanned test aircraft that had automatic controls.

development

The development of this machine began at Fieseler Flugzeugbau Kassel in June 1936. The machine was brought up to altitude with a carrier aircraft. After releasing, the Fi 157 continued its flight with its own drive, a Hirth HM 60 with 60 hp. The aircraft was controlled by an automatic system equipped with program rollers. Since this test aircraft was not a lost device, but had neither landing gear nor skids, the landing was probably carried out using a parachute .

This aircraft was not intended for series production, it was only intended to be used for performing principle tests.

Parallel to the Fi 157 project, development of the Fi 158 test aircraft began in August 1936, and its shape was very similar to the Fi 157.
