Filago cretensis is a plant from the genus of Filzkräuter ( filago ) in the family of Compositae (Asteraceae).
features
Filago cretensis is an annual stem therophyte that reaches heights of 1 to 6, rarely up to 12 centimeters. The bracts are thinner. The middle bracts only have felted hairs up to the middle part. At the time of fruit they are spreading or inclined, but not inflected.
The flowering period extends from April to June.
Occurrence
Filago cretensis occurs in the (Card) Aegean region. The species grows in Phrygana and on fallow land.
Systematics
Two subspecies are distinguished from Filago cretensis :
- Filago cretensis subsp. cretensis : The main stem is usually clearly developed. The bracts have a thin tip about 0.5 to 1 millimeter long. The subspecies occurs in the (Card) Aegean.
- Filago cretensis subsp. cycladum Wagenitz : There is no main stem . The bracts are either pointed or have a tip that is up to 0.5 millimeters long. The subspecies occurs in the Kardägäis . It is usually found on small islands and grows on rocky and sandy coasts.
