The Filer Haven is a small bay in the southeast of Signy Iceland in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . On the east side of the Gourlay Peninsula , it lies between Pantomime Point and Pageant Point .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the Bay on 20 December 1974 after the British biologist John Roger Filer (1937-1961) from the British Antarctic Survey , who on 13 February 1961 during the investigation of nests of breeding here sheathbills by a fall was killed from around 30 m high cliffs .
