Fahrafeld branch church
The Roman Catholic branch church Fahrafeld is located on Hainfelder Straße in Fahrafeld, a village in the Lower Austrian municipality of Pottenstein . It is consecrated to Saint Catherine and subordinate to the parish and deanery Pottenstein .
history
A chapel in Fahrafeld is documented in 1434 , which is attributed to the sphere of influence of Duke Albrecht II . During the second Turkish siege of Vienna in 1683, the sacred building was destroyed by the Turks and rebuilt in 1688. Since the chapel became dilapidated, Max von Ferstel renovated the church in 1888/89 on behalf of Countess Anastasia von Wimpffen, a daughter of Simon von Sina, and partially rebuilt it. Another renovation took place in 1974/75 after it had previously been donated to the parish of Pottenstein. The last renovation of the church took place in 1999.
description
