Filial church Obervellach

The Obervellach branch church in the municipality of Hermagor is consecrated to the Holy Trinity and belongs to the Roman Catholic parish of Hermagor . A church in Obervellach was first mentioned in 1485 as the Oswald Church. In 1538 the Trinity patronage was mentioned.

Building description

The small late Gothic building was changed in the Baroque period . The choir with a three-eighth closure is slightly drawn in opposite the nave. The small, western ridge turret is crowned by a pyramid helmet. The church has four arched windows in the choir and one each in the middle nave yoke . You enter the church through the late Gothic, profiled and round-arched west portal.

In the three-bay nave, a flat barrel from 1686 rests on brackets with stitch caps . An organ with a late Baroque organ case stands on the simple, baroque wooden gallery. The retracted, round-arched triumphal arch is chamfered. In the choir there is a mesh vault on consoles. The lunettes painted Franz Rusch 1881 with evangelist paintings .

Facility

The high altar from 1686 consists of a large aedicula on a base and a split segment gable with a small aedicule as an attachment. The lateral cheeks, the base and the gable are decorated with cartilage . The images of the altar show the apparition of Mary of Anthony of Padua in the center, the medallions on the side with Saints Joseph and Florian and in the top the Holy Trinity.

The left side altar from 1689 is similar in structure and decoration to the main altar, but has no lateral cheeks. The middle picture shows the Archangel Michael , the upper picture Antonius Eremita.

The right side altar resembles the left in structure and decoration. The altar bears the central figure of St. Sebastian . The upper picture shows a holy bishop.

The church also features: a carved rosary from the end of the 17th century with Mary, angels and God the Father as well as two lecture poles from the same period.
