The Roman Catholic branch church Pyrawang is in the district of Pyrawang on the Danube in the municipality of Esternberg in the Schärding district in Upper Austria . It is consecrated to St. Peter and belongs to the parish of Esternberg in the dean's office of Schärding in the diocese of Linz . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

The exact time the church was built is not known. It is assumed that the Petruskirche was built before the parish church of Esternberg. According to bone finds, there was a cemetery near the church in earlier times .

architecture

The church is a single-nave building with a square church tower in the middle with a portal , an octagonal dome and an onion dome .

Furnishing

The church houses a baroque altar depicting Saints Peter and Paul. The high Gothic frescoes from the 14th century, which were discovered and uncovered in 1982 during the interior renovation, are significant in terms of art history .

The bell of the church consists of three bells .
