The Roman Catholic branch church Sittich is dedicated to Saints Philip and James . It is located in the Sittich district of the Feldkirchen community and belongs to the parish of Radweg . The church was first mentioned in a document in 1438.

Building description

The church is a Gothic building with a polygonal choir. The tower on the north side with nicks and ogival sound openings is crowned by a baroque onion helmet. The arched windows on the nave were built at the end of the 18th century. The facade has a diamond cuboid decor from the 18th century. In 1984 the baroque St. Christopher fresco was exposed on the south side. The profiled, Gothic arched portal is protected by a wooden canopy. The offering table from the 18th century was used to receive donations in kind.

In the flat-roofed nave there is a plastered wooden gallery. The organ positive is flanked by the console figures of the church patron. A basket-shaped, chamfered triumphal arch connects the nave with the choir, which has been raised by two steps. A net ridge vault rises above the two-bay choir with a three-eighth end. On the north wall of the choir there is a sacrament niche with a profiled donkey back that was created around 1500 . A chamfered portal leads into the sacristy with ridge vaults and ridge stars on the tower ground floor. The fresco of a crucifixion from the 15th century on the south side of the nave was uncovered in 1984. The wall paintings of Johannes Nepomuk on the south wall and St. Florian on the north wall date from the 18th century. The ceiling painting shows the descent of the Holy Spirit . There is a cross of the Apostles on the south wall of the choir .

Facility

The three altars and the pulpit were built in the last quarter of the 17th century. The high altar from 1680 consists of an aedicule with coupled double columns over large consoles on the base, a blasted segment gable with cartilage cartouche and cherub heads as an attachment, as well as side portals . The side ears are decorated with cartilage and cherub heads. The altar carries the figures of a Madonna and the two church patrons on the main floor . The statues were made at the beginning of the 16th century, but were revised in the 17th century. The essay is made up of God the Father and two young angels with swords and scales, the attributes of the Archangel Michael .

The two side altars are similar in structure and decoration to the main altar, but are more modest. The left altar bears a Madonna carved around 1520 and shows Saint Philip in the upper image . The right altar bears a St. James carved around 1520 and shows St. Sebastian in the top picture . The pulpit is also painted with the two church saints.
