The Roman Catholic Church of St. Margarethen in the village of Tiffen in the municipality of Steindorf am Ossiacher See is a branch church of the Tiffen parish and St. Margarethe consecrated.

history

The church was first mentioned in a document in 1499.

Building

The small Romanesque building with an easterly turret is closed in the east with a recessed round apse . The sacristy is added to the north . The nave and the choir are covered with stone slabs. The round-arched west portal with iron-studded door is protected by a porch with an upper floor.

On the southern outer wall are remains of wall paintings of St. Margarethe with dragon and St. Katharina with a wheel and a signature have been exposed. The flat wooden ceiling of the nave is painted with colored tendrils. The wooden west gallery stands on two wooden round pillars.

Facility

In the shrine of the two-story baroque shrine -Altars with the year 1757 there is a statue of St. Margarethe with kite. Above it, the Holy Trinity is shown as a medallion painting. Assistant figures on the left are St. Catherine with sword and on the right St. Barbara with a tower as an attribute. The essay shows an eye of God in a halo.

On the north wall are console figures of St. Barbara and Katharina attached.

Surroundings

Immediately to the east of the church there is a summer linden tree protected as a natural monument ( list entry ).
