The building of the branch church is located on the themed path of the museum village Trattenbach in the Trattenbachtal directly on the road to Schoberstein . It is also called Wegscheidhaus , as the path to Kienberg branches off there (separates). A workshop building with a forge and grinding shop stood on this property as early as the 16th century. The property was rebuilt in 1895 by Antonia and Mathäus Hack. The museum in the Wegscheid , which forms a station of the museum village, has been located in the former workshop since 1998 . Next to the church, an information board on the themed trail provides information about the history of the building.

history

After the faithful from Trattenbach could only attend services in the parish church of Ternberg for centuries, a Catholic service was celebrated for the first time in the Trattenbach elementary school in 1935. Later, the Messerer family Ratzinger made their chapel available to the pastor for mass celebrations. This house was bought by the parish in 1950 and consecrated in 1958 by the then Bishop of Linz , Franz Zauner . In the years that followed, improvements were made to the building and church interior. The last major renovation took place between 1998 and 2000.

The sacred room is located on the upper floor of the two-story former residential building. It is only accessible from the street through a wooden door. The false ceiling to the attic was removed so that a high room was created. Opposite the entrance door there is a large wooden crucifix on the wall behind the altar as well as a small way of the cross in abstract depiction on white stone slabs. A life-size wooden statue of the Virgin Mary stands in a niche on the right of the choir .

The altar, the ambo , chairs and benches as well as the floor covering are made of light wood. The carpets and the upholstery of the chairs in the choir room are kept in warm, reddish tones, while the benches have blue cushions. A few photos hang on the walls, which are simply painted white. Three windows each with partly colored panes on the long sides and oval windows in the attic give the room daylight.

A small gallery with additional seats is located above the entrance area . There is no organ in the branch church.

The red-covered gable roof of the building supports a small wooden tower that ends with a golden cross. In this tower, covered with wooden shingles, there is a bell that comes from Steg Castle, a mansion at the confluence of the Trattenbach and the Enns . Without this tower top, the building would not be recognizable as a church. The basement is used as an apartment. Old ornaments and inscriptions have been preserved on the lintel above the entrances.
