inside view

The essentially Gothic branch church stands on a knoll in the village of Werschling and is surrounded by a cemetery with an old stone wall.

The well-fortified building from the 14th century with strong walls has a canopy that is supported by the churchyard portal and a sacrificial table to the side in front of it . The interior has a flat, patronized wooden ceiling, which is painted with folk, Gothic leaf tendrils. An exposed, Gothic fresco remnant shows a scene with St. Laurentius .

On the outer wall there are old wall paintings depicting the ten commandments and the five commandments of the church, as well as a painting showing the donors on the southern front of the former ossuary .

Facility

The high altar

A statue of the Virgin Mary stands in the floral painted shrine of the baroque, two-column high altar. Assistant figures on the left are St. Elisabeth with the boys Johannes next to her and Jesus in her arms, on the right St. Barbara . A rare peculiarity is the representation of the Holy Trinity in three persons in the essay. To the left is St. Helena , on the right St. Elisabeth with the rose miracle.

On the side wall altars there are late Gothic and Baroque figures of saints (left Andreas , Thomas and Paulus ). These stand against a deep blue background.

The four fields of the pulpit (around 1700) are painted with the evangelists and each with a gospel text. Figures of the evangelists Mark and John are on the cover. The figures of Matthew and Luke were stolen in 1973. The front of the cover forms an Eye of Providence . It is crowned by a statue of St. Florian .

In the tower of the branch church there are three hand-ringing bells hanging. The smallest and oldest bell with a diameter of 46 cm and a weight of 53 kg bears the inscription "mert regrep 1511". The middle bell with the inscription "Maria Himmelskönigin, the people protection and helper" is a bronze bell with a diameter of 50 cm, which was cast in 1956 in Innsbruck by the Grassmayer company . The largest bell with the inscription "with my voice bright and pure I ring in the peace of my home" is a bronze bell with a diameter of 63 cm, which was also cast in Innsbruck in 1955.
