Filip Leščak
Filip Leščak (born December 13, 1960 in Maribor ) is a former judoka who took part in the Olympic Games twice for Yugoslavia and once for Slovenia .
Athletic career
The 1.80 m tall Filip Leščak was 1978 Yugoslav champion in the weight class up to 65 kilograms. In 1982, 1983, 1985 and 1986 he won the light middleweight division, the weight class up to 78 kilograms. In 1991 he won the middleweight division up to 86 kilograms. Between 1979 and 1991 he was Slovenian champion nine times. After Slovenia's independence, he won the Slovenian middleweight title in 1992.
1982 Leščak reached the semifinals at the European Championships in Rostock. After defeats to the Romanian Mircea Frățică and the British Neil Adams , he finished fifth. In 1983 he won a bronze medal at the Mediterranean Games . At the 1983 World Championships in Moscow, he defeated Frank Wieneke from the Federal Republic of Germany in the quarterfinals . In the semifinals he was defeated by Neil Adams and in the battle for a bronze medal Mircea Frățică. In 1984 he won his first four fights at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, his only Ippon victory came in the quarter-finals against the Turkish Süheyl Yesilnur . In the semifinals he was defeated by Neil Adams with a coca rating, in the battle for bronze the Frenchman Michel Nowak won with a yuko rating.
In 1986 at the European Championships in Belgrade Leščak was defeated in the semifinals to French Marcel Pietri , he lost the battle for bronze to the Polish Waldemar Legień . In 1987, like 1983, he won bronze at the Mediterranean Games. In 1988 he lost to the Japanese Hirotaka Okada with a Yuko rating at the Olympic Games in Seoul . Four years later he competed for Slovenia in the middleweight division at the Olympic Games in Barcelona and was eliminated in his first fight against the Dutchman Ben Spijkers after 57 seconds.
