Filippo Lancellotti

Filippo Lancellotti (born August 17, 1732 in Rome , † July 13, 1794 there ) was an Italian cardinal of the Roman Church and member of the Curia .

Life

He was the second of eight children of the Prince of Lauro Ottavio Lancellotti and his first wife Maria Angelica Lante Montefeltro della Rovere . Through his mother he was a great-nephew of Cardinal Federico Marcello Lante della Rovere . He showed an early inclination for clerical office and completed appropriate studies. Under Pope Benedict XIV he was apostolic protonotary and canon of the Vatican basilica . After various posts in the Curia, he became an auditor of the Roman Rota in November 1778 . In December 1786 he became pro-prefect and in January 1787 prefect of the Apostolic Palace .

In the consistory of February 21, 1794, his uncle Pope Pius VI appointed him . the cardinal deacon . However , he could no longer receive the cardinal's hat and the title diaconia .

Filippo Lancellotti died on July 13, 1794 in Rome after a short illness and was buried in the local church of Sant'Ignazio .
