Filippo Paolone

Filippo Paolone (born July 23, 1917 in Mosciano Sant'Angelo , † November 13, 1993 in Rome ) was an Italian journalist , documentary filmmaker , academician and film lobbyist.

Life

Paolone worked in a variety of ways and roles; He was a lecturer in the history of information sciences at the “School of Publicism” of the “Statistical Faculty” at the Università di Roma , vice-president of the “Studio Romano for social affairs”, editor of the “Audio-Video” magazine, and president of the “Unione Industrie Cinetelevisive” specializzate “(Unics), member of the executive committee of David di Donatello and vice-president of Anica . In 1987 he signed the new “national employment contract” for filmmakers for the company.

He has also made numerous documentaries since 1954 and worked as a screenwriter in the feature film sector in the 1950s. His feature film as a director from 1959, Pierino Salvadanio , was aimed at children. Paolone is best known as a pioneer of industrial and technical documentary film in Italy. He was also a film scholar and developed his own theory on audiovisual communication. Paolone has made his documentaries based on his theoretical research on audiovisual media to make communication more effective. Parallel to his film production, Paolone wrote numerous theoretical works on audiovisual media as a tool for public opinion formation and training. Paolone invented the system of "working grammars" in Italy: thematic series of documentaries to clarify a specific technical subject.
